We hear their cry. We understand their circumstances. And we are here to help.

Helping Hands for Heroes is a nonprofit organization based in Jacksonville, Florida, dedicated to serving military veterans experiencing homelessness.

Our mission is rooted in one simple belief: veterans are our heroes. They served our country, and now it is our turn to serve them.

While we are building an 82-unit transitional housing facility in Jacksonville, our work goes far beyond housing. It is about restoring dignity, creating stability, and providing the support veterans need at every stage of their transition.

Why We Exist

First and foremost, military veterans are considered our heroes. They served our country, and it is our responsibility to serve them.

Some veterans have been through unimaginable experiences. For some, those experiences have led to homelessness, and they need a helping hand. That is where our name comes from — Helping Hands for Heroes.

But this work is about more than being a nonprofit. We are committed to building a stronger, more connected community right here in Jacksonville.

How We Support Veterans

At Helping Hands for Heroes, we take a comprehensive approach to supporting veterans — because no single solution is enough.

Our programs are designed to meet veterans where they are:

  • Operation Nourish – providing clean, nutritious meals

  • Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) – ensuring access to critical care

  • Hands of Restoration – restoring dignity through hygiene and grooming services

  • Brave Hearts & Wagging Tails (Las Vegas Program)* – supporting veterans and their pets

  • Mission 82, our Jacksonville-based transitional housing initiative, is focused on creating long-term stability through safe, supportive housing

Each program plays a role in helping veterans rebuild — step by step.

*In addition to our Jacksonville efforts, we have expanded to a second site in Las Vegas, where a dedicated team is actively serving veterans in that community.

Building a Stronger Community

We believe solving veteran homelessness requires community.

In both Jacksonville and Las Vegas, we are working with partners and organizations to bring resources together and create meaningful impact.

This is not just about one nonprofit.
It is about building a united community that takes action.

A Call to Recognize and Respond

Veteran homelessness is a serious issue in our communities.

Many are in need, even when their voices go unheard.

We hear their cry.
We understand their circumstances.
And we are here to help.

The first step is recognizing the need.
The next step is taking action.
